Composing Challenge 2025!

     Quarkestra is hosting a film composing challenge while we're on tour this October!  The contest is open to anyone.  Submit a new original musical recording to fit the following clip by Thursday October 23, 2025 at 12:01am Central Time.  The clip is from Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927).  Any style of music is welcome!  We love Romantic symphonies and progressive metal, New Orleans jazz and ambient electronic noise...

We'll announce the winner at our composing meetup, Thursday, October 23 at 5:30pm, at Casket Cinema in Minneapolis.  At stake?  You'll be invited to compose a scene for Quarkestra's 2026 film score.  We will perform your composition live, record and release it on our film score recording, and offer you a small stipend and credit.
